Backed by a 5-year limited warranty. High Performance Electronics Architecture: Dual processor – Twice the processing power to maximize performance. Colossal cache – Bigger, faster cache of up to 64 MB means faster performance. Rock Solid Mechanical Architecture: Dual actuator technology – A head positioning system with two actuators that improves positional accuracy over the data track(s). The primary actuator provides coarse displacement using conventional electromagnetic actuator principles. The secondary actuator uses piezoelectric motion to fine tune the head positioning to a higher degree of accuracy. StableTrac – The motor shaft is secured at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilize platters for accurate tracking, during read and write operations. A No-Problems-So-Far Review |

I've done some video editing with the month-old rebuilt system this drive is in, so it has had some intensive use with no problems. To my unsophisticated awareness of such things hard drives of every brand all work about the same until they don't work at all, which happens at least a year down the road if it does happen. I've had WD drives croak this way, without warning, but I've had Seagates and Maxtors go too. The WD5001 worked out of the box (well, the OEM wrapper), set up Windows 7 without a hiccup, and is a nice chunk of storage for a nice price. Five stars. |

WD 2TB SATA Drives for Drobo FS |

Drives live up to their manufacturer's specification. I am pleased with them. They are the first 2 Drives installed in a Drobo FS. Installation went effortlessly. The drives are connected across a network and perform according to their specifications. |

Works Fine |
I had previously bought the 1 TB version of the Caviar Black drive as a backup drive and had no problems with it. As a result I wanted the same type of drive as the primary for the new computer that I built. Mychildrensstore had a good price and availability on the 500 GB unit. Thus far (about two months) there have been no problems, and I am very satisfied.
Installation in the new computer proceeded without problems. This drive is quieter than the previously purchased 1 TB unit which I am nnow using as the back-up in the new computer.

A year later, still going strong |

I added a couple of these to my Mac Pro and a year later they're still going strong. Installation was super easy (basically, just slide them into an empty hard drive slot) and they've been storing data without any complaints. |
