Excellent replacement |

This was a excellent replacement for my old HR-20. No more B-band Converters. These B-band converters were always having to be replaced. The new HR-23 has the converters built in the receiver, so you don't have to replace them when they start giving you a bad connection. Quality of picture looks better too. Faster also. It was a Nice upgrade. |

Directv has now taken the low road |
Have you been a loyal customer and advocate of Directv for many (or as I have been > 12) years? Have you been happy with what seemed to be extraordinary customer service when things aren't right? Have you upgraded your service to HDTV lately?
Well, I just got off the line with a 'supervisor' at Directv after they tried to pawn off an refurbished HR21-100 HD DVR as the sent upgrade for a standard DVR in our home theatre. The original agent who took the request 3 days ago told me I would receive a unit as least as good as the brand new HR22-100 in our living room. When this unit arrived today, I immediately called to find out why an older and inferior (reburbished) model was sent. The supervisor, to whom I was transferred after asking for a higher level contact from the 1st level agent, spent 45 minutes with me arguing why he was 'listening to me' but also agreeing with my point about why customers are upset with getting whatever Directv sends them (rather than offering specific models). No escalation path was offered for my complaint or how to fix their customer-dissatisfyer process.
THESE GUYS ARE NO LONGER LISTENING!!! I am sending this dysfunctional unit back and getting my contract reset to expire in 6 months. I suggest you consider dumping these guys when yours expires too. I can't say DISH is better, but this kind of treatment for long-term customers really sucks... |

Directv Dishonest & Inferior Service |
After promising us a sweet deal (Showtime & The Movie Channel) free for 12 months if we signed up for 2 years service. Based on that and with an iterest in saving money we decided to switch from Dish Network to them. This was the biggest mistake we have ever made. Not only did they scam us and cancelled our free movie channels after 4 months, they never came through with the $25 gift card we were supose to receive either. They claimed, after offering and approving our registration for the card, that we didn't qualify. No real explanation other than that.
In addition, the service is far inferior to Dish Network, the sound is horrible and on some channels you have to turn the TV all the way up to hear it. Again, requests to have this resolved went nowhere. Also, you can't set a channel reminder to come on and switch to a channel when a show comes on when you want it starts. The remote and menu selections are far inferior to Dish Network searching options for shows is worthless.
This just names a few of the issues with this company and their product, not to mention their total dishonesty and inability to fix any issues. We will ride out our 24 month contract and then switch back to Dish Network or cable. As it turned out, with all the schinanigans from them, we ended up not even saving any money.
WAHT A MISTAKE SUBSCRIBING TO DIRECTV. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE JUST TO TRY AND SAVE A FEW DOLLARS.

Perfect, Brand New, Not a Re-furb. |

I purchased the HR23-700 HD DVR. $20 cheaper than I could get it from Directv, but here's the good part.....its not a refurbish and its a HR-23-700 HD DVR. When you order one from Directv they will not guarantee you get this model. They may send you an HR21, HR22, or a HR23. And on top of that it may be a refurbish! Check the sticker on the back. I had a question, the seller got right back to me. Also I ordered it Sunday night, and I had it Wednesday. This is my second HR23 in 6 months (I have two), so Directv would not cut me a deal since its been less than a year since they gave me my other one for $50. I hope this seller gets the new HR24 that's due out 6/2010!! |
