Product Description |
|
At 10.2 ounces, Kindle is lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle fits perfectly in your hands. Kindle is as easy to hold and use as a book. We designed it with long-form reading in mind. When reading for long periods of time, people naturally shift positions and often like to read with one hand. Kindle's page-turning buttons are located on both sides, allowing you to read and turn pages comfortably with one hand from any position. The page-turn buttons now flex inward to prevent any accidental page turns when picking up or handling Kindle. Kindle has a new easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words. Kindle is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box--no setup, no cables, no computer required. With Kindle's 25% longer battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly. Whispernet utilizes Mychildrensstore's optimized technology plus Sprint's national high-speed (3G) data network to enable you to wirelessly search, discover, and download content on the go. Your books and periodicals are delivered via Whispernet in less than 60 seconds. And unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot. |

The only way to read a book |
|
This is a great product. At first I thought I would miss reading from an actual book but after using it for a couple weeks I find that it is a great alternative to paper books. The screen has a paper like quality and is easy on the eyes. Even with the wireless turned on the battery lasts for a long time with moderate use (including some use of the web browser). I would definetly recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading books. |

Medical purpose |
The Kindle should also be marketed for its benefits for people with disabilities. I'm an avid reader who has MS. I have purchased ebooks from the gemstar to the first sony , the kindle is by far superior. My disability has increased since the my first gemstar purchase. Nobody thinks about how difficult it is to hold a hardcover book or to read a paperback and turn the pages when you can't crack the sine of a book because your fingers don't have the strength. Not to mention failing vision and being able to enlarge the print. That's one reason it doesn't get 5 stars the type should be able to go a little larger. I think the publisher's arguing with you over the 9.99 price should know they are also hindering people with disabilities many of whom are on fixed incomes and cannot afford to pay the increased prices. I for one will wait until prices come down on new releases priced above 9.99.
I love my new kindle and would be truly miserable if i wasn't able to read. |

NEW USER |
BOUGHT KINDLE 2 ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, AFTER A COMPLETE STUDY OF EBOOK READERS AVAILABLE. ONE WORD REVIEW: GREAT!
TOOK ME ABOUT TWO DAYS GETTING USED TO THIS TYPE OF BOOK AND NOW I ONLY WANT TO READ FROM THIS NEW ELECTRONIC BOOK. HAVE READ ABOUT FOUR BOOKS ALREADY. MANY FEATURES EXIST THAT I HAVE NOT TRIED YET, BUT SO FAR, EVERYTHING I TRIED IS VERY GOOD. BOUGHT A COLE BOOK COVER AND AM VERY PLEASED WITH IT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE AMAZON COVER IS ALSO GOOD. |

My Kindle |
I was given a Sony Reader some time ago. Although I liked the portability, I didn't like having to link it up to my computer to get books or sit it in its cradle to charge.
I first saw this product on television. I told my husband that I would like to have one because I was tired of carrying around heavy books to read on public transportation. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift, but I received it a little before Thanksgiving. I instantly fell in love with it.
Easy to set up - just plug it in to charge. It charges fast and last about a week or more on that one charge. To charge you just need the device and a socket...no more cradles or computers!
Easy to register - phone call w/wonderful customer service reps to answer any questions.
Easy to order - site reachable on Kindle for books & accessories.
Easy to read - different fonts for young and old eyes.
I couldn't tell enough people about the Kindle and even purchased one for my sister who is not computer literate and was afraid that it would be difficult to use. She now loves it and won't leave home without it!
I told a few folks on the job about it and they too have either purchased one or have it on their "wish list" for an upcoming birthday, anniversary etc.
I was asked just this morning if I was getting paid for pushing the product because I sold so many on purchasing the Kindle. Can I get paid?
